Houston Black Restaurant Week 2017
Next month, Houston Black Restaurant Week (#HOUBRW) kicks off it's 2nd year and we're excited about all of the festivities taking place for TWO WHOLE WEEKS!
From April 17 - 30, 2017, diners will experience special menu offerings for lunch, brunch and dinner at a variety of participating restaurants throughout the Greater Houston area. To add to the excitement, #HOUBRW is peppered with special events and competitions that highlight Black culinary professionals and provide business opportunities to aspiring restaurateurs.
#HOUBRW is based on a simple, yet often and unfortunately, unseen concept--the celebration of Black culinary! At it's inception, the event organizers behind #HOUBRW, created the event to increase awareness, support and patronization of black restaurants and chefs in Houston. As the platform grows, it broadens it's scope to shed light on the significant and diverse contributions of Black restaurants, executive chefs and food industry professionals, to national culinary landscape.
Last year's #HOUBRW received an amazing response, so the team decided to go bigger and better with new restaurants added to the lineup, new contestants competing against last year's chefs and bartenders and the much anticipation, a food truck park and block party.
A portion of the proceeds from each meal purchased through this year’s HOUBRW is donated to the Blue Triangle Community Center, Commercial Kitchen Renovation a commercial kitchen development to be utilized by budding caterers and the community at-large.
